Four Easy Ways to Get Your Car Ready for Winter

Prepare Your Car For Winter Weather

Winter in Indiana is already here. The roads are covered in snow and ice and mornings look like a winter wonderland. To make sure you don’t get stranded on the side of the road, here are four tips on how to get your car ready for winter.

  1. Get new wiper blades. Your windshield wipers do a lot of work. You should get a new set every six to 12 months. Consider installing a heavy-duty winter pair of wipers to help clear the snow and ice from your window faster.
  2. Check your tires. Give your tires a thorough inspection. Look for cracks or bulges and check the tread depth. If your tread is getting too low, you might need to get a new set of tires. Consider winter tires for better traction in the cold.
  3. Put together a winter kit. If you haven’t already, put any necessary winter tools in your car. Include things like an ice scraper, a pair of gloves, jumper cables, a small shovel, and a bag of cat litter.
  4. Check your battery. Have your battery tested to make sure it has enough power left to get through the winter. A weak battery can fail when the temperatures start to drop.
