Winter in Indiana is already here. The roads are covered in snow and ice and mornings look like a winter wonderland. To make sure you don’t get stranded on the side of the road, here are four tips on how to get your car ready for winter.
- Get new wiper blades. Your windshield wipers do a lot of work. You should get a new set every six to 12 months. Consider installing a heavy-duty winter pair of wipers to help clear the snow and ice from your window faster.
- Check your tires. Give your tires a thorough inspection. Look for cracks or bulges and check the tread depth. If your tread is getting too low, you might need to get a new set of tires. Consider winter tires for better traction in the cold.
- Put together a winter kit. If you haven’t already, put any necessary winter tools in your car. Include things like an ice scraper, a pair of gloves, jumper cables, a small shovel, and a bag of cat litter.
- Check your battery. Have your battery tested to make sure it has enough power left to get through the winter. A weak battery can fail when the temperatures start to drop.
